About the Author
James McKenzie holds the title of Professor Emeritus at Ball State University. His doctorate was received from The Ohio State University, while he also holds a MPH from the University of Michigan, and a MEd and BS from Bowling Green State University (BGSU). His teaching experience includes positions at BGSU, Mankato State University, and Penn State–Hershey. Holding the certification of master certified health education specialist (MCHES), he served on NCHEC’s Division Board for Certification of Health Education Specialists for 11 years. He co-authored five books: Planning, Implementing, and Evaluating Health Promotion Programs: A Primer (7th ed., 2017, Benjamin Cummings), Introduction to Society and Public Health (9th ed., 2018, Jones & Bartlett Learning), Introduction to Community Health: Brief Edition (2014, Jones & Bartlett Learning), Principles and Foundations of Health Promotion and Education (7th ed., in press, Benjamin Cummings), and Research Methods in Health Promotion and Education (2nd ed., 2011, Jones & Bartlett Publishers). He is affiliated with the Society for Public Health Education, American School Health Association, and Eta Sigma Gamma.^Robert R. Pinger is Professor Emeritusin the Department of Physiology and Health Science at Ball State University, and Director Emeritus of the Department’s Public Health Entomology Laboratory. He holds an MS and PhD from Iowa State University and underwent postdoctoral training in medical entomology at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. He has taught at the Federal University of Amazonas, Manaus, Brazil and Yeungnam University, Daegu, Republic of Korea. He co-authored two books: Drugs: Issues for Today (3rd ed., McGraw-Hill) and Introduction to Society and Public Health (8th ed., Jones & Bartlett Learning), and authored over 25 peer-reviewed, scientific research articles. At Ball State, he taught courses in personal health, community health, epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, toxicology, and public health entomology.
