Dr. Julia Burdge carried out most of her undergraduate studies at Iowa State University, completing her bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in inorganic chemistry at the University of South Florida in Tampa. She earned her Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at the University of Idaho. Her Master’s and doctoral research focused on developing chemotherapeutic analogs of cisplatin and devising tools and methods for detecting ultra-trace levels of atmospheric sulfur compounds. Over the past two decades, she has instructed introductory and advanced courses in every area of the undergraduate chemistry curriculum, including interdisciplinary programs. She also designed and taught a new entry-level chemistry course for prospective science educators and initiated and played a mentoring role in a future faculty development program for graduate students and post-doctoral scholars. She is currently associated with the University of Idaho.
