Donna A. Henderson serves as a professor and department head of guidance at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in English from Meredith College, her master’s degree from James Madison University, and her Ph.D. in counselor education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She has previously served as President of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision and Chi Sigma Iota, the counseling honor society. Additionally, she has worked as a teacher and counselor in grades 7 to 12, a certified school counselor, and a licensed professional counselor. Her affiliations include the American Counseling Association, and she has actively participated in national, regional, and state counseling organizations. Her research focuses on mentoring young people, especially in educational settings, and counselor education issues. She has co-written materials on school counseling and counselor training and has authored chapters on legal and ethical matters, developmental aspects, expressive arts and counseling, and other themes. Her works have appeared in The Journal of Counseling and Development, Counselor Education and Supervision, The Journal for Specialists in Group Work, Arts in Psychotherapy, Journal of Family Therapy, and Elementary School Guidance and Counseling.
Charles L. Thompson served as a counseling education professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling in the College of Education, Health, and Human Science at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in science education and educational psychology at the University of Tennessee and pursued his Ph.D. specializing in counselor education, developmental psychology, and counseling psychology at The Ohio State University where he was a recipient of NDEA and Delta Theta Tau fellowships. Dr. Thompson worked as a teacher and counselor in grades 7 to 12. His research areas included reality therapy and solution-focused brief guidance. He received the Counselor Educator of the Year Award from the American Psychological Health Counselors Association and the Author of the Year Award from the American School Counselor Association. He has co-authored or authored seven books and over 100 articles in journals such as the Journal of Counseling and Development, Professional School Counseling, Journal of Mental Health Counseling, Counselor Education and Supervision, Journal of Counseling Psychology, International Journal of Reality Therapy, and the International Journal for the Advancement of Counseling. Moreover, he served as the editor of The Theory Exchange Section of the Elementary School Guidance and Counseling Journal from 1979 to 1997.
