Richard has also worked at the Universities of Birmingham, Kent, and Sheffield, as well as the Aston Enterprise College. His wide array of research has delved into various facets of social psychology, ranging from prejudice formation and reduction to interpersonal relations and identity processes, from mere exposure to stereotyping and social categorization. His published works include over 150 articles, chapters, and books, with notable papers featured in American Psychologist, Psychological Science, Psychological Bulletin, and Science. His contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards from scholarly societies such as the British Psychological Society President’s Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychological Knowledge and Spearman Medal. In collaboration with Rhiannon Turner, he was honored with the 2011 Gordon Allport Intergroup Relations Prize from the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues for the best paper on intergroup relations that year. Rhiannon Turner holds the position of Professor of Social Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast. She completed her undergraduate studies at Cardiff University, pursued her Master’s degree at the University of Kent, conducted her doctoral research at Oxford University, and engaged in postdoctoral research at the University of Birmingham. She began her lecturing career at the University of Leeds in 2007, eventually becoming a Chair at Queen’s University Belfast in 2012. Her research primarily focuses on intergroup relations, with a specific interest in various forms of contact (such as extended, online, and imagined contact, along with nostalgic recall of contact) as mechanisms for altering intergroup attitudes and behaviors. She has published extensively with over 100 articles, chapters, and books, featuring works in American Psychologist, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Psychological Bulletin. Her research has received funding from prestigious sources including the British Academy, Economic and Social Research Council, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, Global Challenges Research Fund, Leverhulme Trust, and the National Institute for Health Research. She has been awarded the British Psychological Science award for Outstanding Doctoral Research Contributions to Psychology, the Foundation for Personality and Social Psychology’s Robert B. Cialdini Award for contributions to field research in social psychology, and, in collaboration with Richard Crisp, the Gordon Allport Intergroup Relations Prize from the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues. Rhiannon has held various editorial positions including Editor-in-Chief of the European Review of Social Psychology. She currently serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, British Journal of Social Psychology, and Group Processes and Intergroup Relations. She is also a Fellow of the Society of Experimental Social Psychology. Her contributions were highlighted in the BAFTA-winning 2020 Channel 4 program, The School That Attempted To End Racism, and she provided testimony on the importance of diversifying the school curriculum to the UK Parliament.
