Seeking Justice, Third Edition, delves into the pursuit of justice by exploring the origins of the concept, formal avenues of justice, current global dilemmas concerning justice, and approaches through which justice can be attained by individuals, institutions, and the global community. Part I illustrates the evolution of the concept of justice over time, starting from faith and philosophy, and progressing to the concept of social justice. Part II delineates the diverse mechanisms employed by different nations to achieve legal justice, including systems based on common law, civil law, and Islamic law, with a dedicated discussion on the US justice system. Part III addresses six contemporary justice issues: warfare, migration, domestic terrorism, genocide, enslavement, and the environment. Lastly, Part IV elaborates on how individuals and organizations can actively pursue justice and explores the emergence of global justice.

This contemporary guide aids students in grasping the intricacies and subtleties of a society’s quest for justice. It furnishes students with the fundamentals of global justice systems, blending Greek philosophies and major spiritual perspectives into a holistic view of justice, and contributes to undergraduate comprehension of international justice bodies, NGOs, and institutions. The third edition introduces a comprehensive chapter on migration, focusing on historical and international trends within the realm of justice, along with additional content on the #MeToo and Black Lives Matter movements, the Rohingya genocide in Myanmar, and the sovereign citizens movement in relation to domestic terrorism.
