Research Methods in Crime and Justice, 2nd Edition, is an innovative material/online fusion for undergraduate Law Enforcement Research Methods courses. This content uniquely addresses the primary educational challenge for this course: ways to demonstrate students that achievement as law enforcement professionals is connected to their acquisition of investigation abilities.
Brian Withrow, a widely published academic researcher and former Texas State Trooper, conceived this approach for his personal undergraduate Research Methods course. He convincingly illustrates that research skills are not only crucial to university academic researchers but to successful law enforcement professionals as well. Over 80 brief, sharply focused instances throughout the material rely on exploration carried out by, on behalf of, or associated with law enforcement professionals to capture students’ interest like no other content of its kind. Comprehensive web resources all authored by the creator provide a variety of instructor support materials, including a Investigator’s Journalthat furnishes students (and their instructors) with a series of structured tasks leading to the formulation of a sound research project.
