Vernon J. Richardson holds the G. William Glezen Chair as a Recognized Professor of Accounting at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, and also serves as a visiting instructor at Baruch College. He attained his Bachelor of Science, Accountancy Master’s, and Master of Business Administration degrees from Brigham Young University, along with a doctoral degree in accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His teaching experience spans various institutions such as the University of Arkansas, University of Illinois, Brigham Young University, and University of Kansas, in addition to international institutions like Chinese University of Hong Kong Shenzhen, Aarhus University, China Europe International Business School (Shanghai), Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University, and the University of Technology Sydney.

Dr. Richardson is an active member of the American Accounting Association. He has previously held the position of president within the Information Systems branch of the American Accounting Association. Formerly an editor for The Accounting Review, he presently serves as an editor at Accounting Horizons. His work has been published in prestigious journals including The Accounting Review, Journal of Information Systems, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Contemporary Accounting Research, MIS Quarterly, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of Operations Management, and Journal of Marketing. Dr. Richardson has co-authored textbooks such as Introduction to Data Analytics for Accounting, Data Analytics for Accounting, and Introduction to Business Analytics with McGraw-Hill.

C. Janie Chang currently holds the role of Academic Executive Director for the Master of Professional Accountancy program at the University of California, Davis. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California-Irvine and before joining UC Davis, Dr. Chang served as the Vern Odmark Professor at San Diego State University (SDSU). At SDSU, Dr. Chang established the postgraduate Accounting Information Systems (AIS) program and has also conducted courses at University of California-Irvine, San Jose State University, and California State University-San Marcos. Her professional interests relating to AIS encompass topics such as information systems auditing, data modeling, e-business challenges, and business network structures.

Dr. Chang is a proud member of both the American Accounting Association and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). Her research activities focus on auditing, accounting, and information systems, particularly examining expert information processing and cross-cultural elements influencing professional judgments and decision-making. Her scholarly contributions have been featured in publications like Abacus, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Data Base, International Journal of Accounting, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Journal of Accounting Literature, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, among others.

Rod Smith, Ph.D., holds the position of Professor of Accountancy at California State University-Long Beach and also oversees the MS in Accountancy program. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Oregon, a Master of Science in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, and a Doctorate in Management (Accounting) from the University of California-Irvine. Dr. Smith’s previous teaching roles were at the University of Arkansas, University of California-Irvine, and University of Alaska.

His academic contributions have appeared in publications such as the Accounting Review, Journal of Information Systems, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and International Journal of Accounting Information Systems. Dr. Smith, a retired Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant, and former U.S. Coast Guard Captain, is keenly interested in areas such as utilizing financial and non-financial metrics for organizational performance evaluation, business processes, and the strategic integration of accounting information systems for enhancing business value. His research scope covers areas of design science, systems dynamics, business process simulation, and enterprise systems.
