Author’s Background

Timothy S. Doupnik is a Respected Professor Emeritus of Accountancy at the University of South Carolina, where he began his teaching career in 1982. He led the School of Accountancy from 2003 to 2010, and later served as Vice Provost for global affairs until 2013. He earned his bachelor’s from California State University-Fullerton and completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Illinois.

Professor Doupnik’s scholarly work has predominantly focused on international financial management and has been featured in various academic publications like The Accountancy Journal; Accountancy, Corporations, and Society; Abacus; Global Accountancy Research Journal; Accountancy Literary Journal; International Financial Journal, and Journal of International Business Studies.

Professor Doupnik has formerly chaired the International Accountancy Division of the American Accountancy Association and was honored with the Division’s Distinct International Accountancy Educator Accolade in 2008. He has educated and researched in global accountancy at various universities worldwide, including Austria. Brazil. China, Dominican Republic, Finland. Germany, and Mexico.

Joe B. Hoyle holds the position of assistant professor of accountancy at the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond. He is also an Accountancy Teaching Fellow. In 2015, he was the inaugural recipient of the J. Michael and Mary Anne Cook Award for undergraduate education. This award, presented by the American Accountancy Association, signifies remarkable teaching skills in the field of accountancy. In 2019, former students fundraised to establish an Accountancy Teaching Fellowship, which will be known as the “Joe Hoyle Accountancy Teaching Fellowship” upon his eventual retirement. Thomas F. Schaefer is an Emeritus Professor of Accountancy at the University of Notre Dame. He has penned numerous essays for scholarly periodicals such as the Accountancy Review, Journal of Accountancy Research, Journal of Accountancy & Economics, Accountancy Horizons, among others. His primary instructional and academic interests are within financial accountancy and reporting. Tom has previously chaired the American Accountancy Association’s Accountancy Program Leadership Coalition. He was honored with the 2007 Joseph A. Silvoso Faculty Excellence Prize from the Federation of Accountancy Schools and the 2013 Notre Dame Master of Science in Accountancy Dincolo Exceptional Professor Award.
