Dr. Robert Drummond passed away on March 14, 2005. He was a retired professor and counselor educator at the University of North Florida for two decades. A leading figure in the field of assessment, he specialized in educational and psychological testing, career development, assessment models, educational evaluation, and personality theory and measurement. Dr. Drummond authored the First Edition of this book in 1988. Now in its Eighth Edition, the publication remains a well-received assessment textbook in the counseling realm.

Dr. Carl J. Sheperis currently holds the position of Chair of the Department of Counseling and Special Populations at Lamar University. He has previously served as President of the Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling, Associate Editor for Quantitative Research for the Journal of Counseling and Development, and a Director for the National Board for Certified Counselors. In addition to his contributions to this textbook, Dr. Sheperis has authored works such as: Research in Counseling, Analytical, Qualitative, and Mixed Approaches, Clinical Mental Health Counseling: Foundations of Applied Practice, and The Peace Initiative. He has also been published in numerous textbooks, scholarly journals, and reference collections. A regular speaker and presenter at professional conferences and workshops, Carl Sheperis has participated in events like the American Counseling Association World Conference, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Conference, the National Research Conference, and the National Head Start Conference.

Dr. Karyn Dayle Jones holds the position of associate professor in counselor education at the University of Central Florida. With two decades of experience in the counseling field, she has been an educator in counseling for fourteen years. Jones is a coauthor of Introduction to the Profession of Counseling, has either authored or coauthored numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed publications, and has given various professional presentations in the field of counseling and counselor education. Her primary areas of focus are assessment and diagnosis. She previously served as the president of the Counseling Association for Humanistic Counseling, Education, and Development, a division of the American Counseling Association. Jones holds a license as a Florida Certified Mental Health Counselor and is a National Certified Counselor, with experience as a counselor in mental health facilities, schools, and private practice.
