Dr. Julia Burdge completed a significant portion of her undergraduate studies at Iowa State University, culminating in her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in inorganic chemistry from the University of South Florida in Tampa. She obtained her Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Idaho. Her master’s and doctoral research focused on developing chemotherapeutic analogs of cisplatin and creating tools and methods for detecting ultra-trace amounts of atmospheric sulfur compounds. Over the past two decades, she has taught entry-level and advanced courses across all branches of the undergraduate chemistry curriculum, including interdisciplinary courses. She designed and taught a new introductory chemistry course for aspiring science educators and launched and participated as a mentor in a program for future faculty development aimed at graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. Currently, she is associated with the University of Idaho.
