About the Writer

Dr. David R. Anderson, an author of textbooks and Professor Emeritus of Quantitative Analysis in the School of Business Administration at the University of Cincinnati. He has held the positions of head of the Department of Quantitative Analysis and Operations Management, as well as Associate Dean of the School of Business Administration. He also played a coordinating role in the School’s inaugural Executive Program. Apart from teaching introductory statistics to business students, Dr. Anderson has conducted advanced-level courses on regression analysis, multivariate analysis, and management science. Moreover, he has delivered statistical courses at the Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. Professor Anderson has been honored with numerous accolades for teaching excellence and his contributions to student organizations. He is the co-writer of ten textbooks on decision sciences and actively advises businesses on sampling and statistical methodologies. Hailing from Grand Forks, North Dakota, he obtained his BS, MS, and PhD from Purdue University.

Dr. Dennis J. Sweeney, a distinguished textbook writer, Professor Emeritus of Quantitative Analysis, and founder of the Center for Productivity Improvement at the University of Cincinnati. He served as the head of the Department of Quantitative Analysis for five years and as Associate Dean of the School of Business Administration for four years. Dr. Sweeney also has experience in the management science division at Procter & Gamble and has been a visiting professor at Duke University. He has published over 30 articles in the fields of management science and statistics. Research funding from the National Science Foundation, IBM, Procter & Gamble, and other reputed organizations has supported his work, which has been showcased in notable journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, Mathematical Programming, Decision Sciences, among others. Dr. Sweeney is the co-creator of ten textbooks covering statistics, management science, linear programming, and production and operations management. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, he graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. from Drake University, and pursued his M.B.A. and D.B.A. degrees at Indiana University, where he was an NDEA Fellow.

Dr. Thomas A. Williams, a highly respected textbook author and Professor Emeritus of Management Science at the School of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he was the founding chairman of the Decision Sciences Department. He taught courses in management science, statistics, and advanced courses in regression and decision analysis. Before joining the faculty at RIT, Dr. Williams spent seven years as a faculty member at the School of Business Administration at the University of Cincinnati, where he established the undergraduate program in Information Systems and served as its coordinator. With a total of 11 major textbooks co-authored in the fields of management science, statistics, production and operations management, and mathematics, Dr. Williams has consulted for numerous Fortune 500 companies, working on projects ranging from data analysis to the creation of large-scale regression models. He earned his B.S. from Clarkson University and completed his postgraduate studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he attained his M.S. and Ph.D.
