ISBN-13978-1529734959Patrick Dawson is a Professor of Organizational Change at the College of Northumbria and an Emeritus Professor at the University of Aberdeen. He earned a PhD in Industrial Sociology from the University of Southampton. During his early career, he was employed at the University of Surrey and the University of Edinburgh. His relocation to Australia in the 1980s led him to a lecturing position at the University of Adelaide. Subsequently, in 1997, he assumed the Salvesen Chair in Management at the University of Aberdeen, where he also held significant administrative roles such as Director of Graduate Studies and Head of the Business School. Following a sabbatical in 2005, Patrick decreased his commitments at Aberdeen and accepted a professorial role at the University of Wollongong (2006-2016) and the University of Adelaide (2017-2019), regularly commuting between the two countries. He has held visiting professorships at Roskilde University, Lund University, and the Danish Technical University, in addition to an adjunct professorship at Monash University.
Patrick has been actively involved in extensive case study research across the UK and Australia for over four decades, focusing on innovation and change within various organizations including Pirelli Cables, British Rail, General Motors, Hewlett Packard, the CSIRO, and Micro-X. Several of these research projects were collaborative efforts with scholars from different universities, resulting in the publication of more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles, 14 books, 50 book chapters, and numerous conference presentations.
Constantine Andriopoulos holds the position of Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, serving as Associate Dean for Entrepreneurship and Director of the Research Centre for Innovation and Disruption at the Business School (formerly Cass). Costas is globally renowned for his contributions on organizational ambidexterity; specifically, how companies operating in fast-paced markets can excel in both incremental (leveraging existing capabilities) and discontinuous (venturing into new domains) innovation.
He is a recipient of several awards for his research and teaching. His studies, supported by funding from the Carnegie Trust and the European Commission, have been featured in prestigious peer-reviewed academic and practitioner publications including Organizational Science, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Human Relations, California Management Review, Long Range Planning, and are highly cited. Recognized for the impact and relevance of his work, he consistently ranks among the top 5% of authors in the field of innovation management worldwide.
Costas is actively engaged as a business advisor (Director of Avyssos Advisors Ltd., specializing in innovation management consulting), educator, and consultant, collaborating with CEOs and senior management teams across the globe. He has conducted executive training programs for utilities, insurance, energy, FMCG, satellite, SMEs, and government organizations. Additionally, he is a prominent presence on social media and contributes frequently to articles in popular managerial publications such as the Harvard Business Review, Financial Times, The Times, Reuters, among others.
