Police Information: Totality of Circumstances is a crucial resource and is tailored for anyone who may come across the realm of criminal justice, whether it is a chief officer overseeing the department’s daily procedures, a law enforcer, a civilian abiding by the law, a legal representative, or a judge interpreting the law. This guide applies mathematical and logical reasoning to laws and policies to assess them objectively. Laws and policies are written as English logical statements. These statements can be transformed into mathematical logical statements, which can be objectively evaluated through Boolean algebra. Specifically, truth tables, Venn diagrams, flowcharts, logic gates, and logic circuits can all be utilized to assess laws, policies, and proper law enforcement actions. For instance, mathematically, “it is not a glass, blue, marble” means almost the exact opposite of “it is not glass, not blue, and not marble.” Additionally, one must consider existential and universal quantifiers, conditional statements, and subsets to accurately interpret laws and policies. Therefore, it is essential for individuals to understand how to mathematically evaluate English logical statements (e.g., the law), as opponents in court may do so if they do not.
