S Alexander Haslam (Alex Haslam) holds the role of Professor of Psychological Science and an Australian Laureate Fellow at the University of Queensland. Together with colleagues, he has composed and curated 15 books and more than 300 research articles and sections. His most current publications include The Innovative Psychology of Management: Identity, Emotion, and Vitality (co-authored with Steve Reicher and Michael Platow, 2nd edition 2020) and Social Psychology: Reexamining Fundamental Research (edited with Joanne Smith, 2nd edition 2017). He previously served as the Chief Editor of the European Journal of Social Psychology and also as the President of the Psychology Section of the British Science Association. He is the recipient of the Kurt Lewin Medal for outstanding research from the European Association of Social Psychology, as well as the Nevitt Sanford Award for contributions to political psychology from the International Society of Political Psychology. Furthermore, he has been honored with awards for notable contributions to psychological science from both the British Psychological Society and the Australian Psychological Society. In 2022, he was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia for his significant dedication to higher education, specifically in psychology, through his research and mentoring efforts.
Craig McGarty is currently positioned as a Professor of Psychological Science at Western Sydney University. He attained his initial education in psychology at the University of Adelaide, followed by a Ph.D. from Macquarie University in 1991 (where he served as a tutor from 1985 to 1989). He spent the year 1990 as a lecturer in social psychology/social interaction at the University of Western Sydney before transitioning in 1991 to the Australian National University as a research associate. He progressed to hold the positions of Reader and Head of the School of Psychological Science before proceeding to Murdoch University in Western Australia, where he assumed the roles of Director of the Centre for Social and Community Research and subsequently Director of the Social Research Institute. His interests span across various topics in experimental social psychology, with his ongoing research involving a social audit of the aspirations and solutions within a remote Indigenous community and investigations into the reconciliation process following genocide in Rwanda. Among his literary works are Stereotypes as Explanations (co-authored with Vincent Yzerbyt and Russell Spears, 2002) and Categorization and Social Psychology (1999).
