David Colander has served as the Christian A Johnson Distinguished Professor of Economics at Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont since 1982. He has composed, collaborated on, or overseen more than 40 publications (inclusive of fundamental and intermediate macroeconomic texts) and 200 essays on a broad spectrum of themes. His publications have been, or are being, translated into numerous languages, such as Chinese, Bulgarian, Polish, Italian, and Spanish.

He acquired his Ph.D. from Columbia University and has instructed at Columbia University, Vassar College, the University of Miami, as well as Middlebury. He has additionally acted as an advisor to Time-Life Films, a consultant to Congress, a Brookings Policy Fellow, and a Visiting Scholar at Nuffield College, Oxford. In the years 2001 to 2002, he held the position of the Kelly Professor of Distinguished Teaching at Princeton University.

He formerly held the role of President in both the Eastern Economic Association and the History of Economic Thought Society and is, or has been, a participant in the editorial boards of the Journal of the History of Economic Thought, Journal of Economic Methodology, Eastern Economic Journal, and The Journal of Socioeconomics, and Journal of Economic Perspectives. He is a contributor to the AEA Committee on Economic Education.

Elgin Hunt has passed away. He was one of the original authors of this publication when it commenced in the 1930s, and assumed full authorship in the 1950s. He continued to revise the publication until the late 1960s when David Colander assumed authorship.
