About the Author
Elgin Hunt has passed away. He was an early contributor to this book in the 1930s and assumed full authorship in the 1950s. He led revisions until the late 1960s, at which point David Colander assumed responsibility.
David Colander earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University and has served as the Christian A Johnson Distinguished Professor of Economics at Middlebury College in Vermont since 1982. During 2001-2002, he held the Kelly Professorship for Distinguished Teaching at Princeton University. With over 35 books and 100 articles to his credit on diverse subjects, his works have been, or are being, translated into various languages including Chinese, Bulgarian, Polish, Italian, and Spanish. He has held leadership roles in the Eastern Economic Association and History of Economic Thought Society and has served, or currently serves, on the editorial boards of numerous publications, including the Journal of Economic Perspectives and the Journal of Economic Education.
