Author Background
David Colander earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University and served as the Christian A. Johnson Distinguished Professor of Economics at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont, from 1982 until 2013, when he assumed the position of Distinguished College Professor at Middlebury. During 2001–2002, he held the role of Kelly Professor of Distinguished Teaching at Princeton University. With over 40 authored, co-authored, or edited books and 200 articles across a broad spectrum of subjects, his works have been translated into several languages, including Chinese, Bulgarian, Polish, Italian, and Spanish. He has chaired both the Eastern Economic Association and History of Economic Thought Society and has been a member of the editorial teams for numerous publications like theJournal of Economic Perspectives and Journal of Economic Education.
Elgin Hunt has passed away. He was one of the original contributors to this book in the 1930s and took on sole authorship in the 1950s. His association with the book continued until the late 1970s, after which David Colander assumed control.
