About the Writer

Nick Haslam is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He earned his doctorate in clinical and social psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, and previously instructed at the New School for Social Research in New York City. Nick’s research concerns span mental health, stigma, and dehumanization, and he has issued more than 250 scholarly manuscripts and book sections on these and other themes. Alongside this tome, he has authored numerous other works, including Initiation to the Taxonomic MethodPrinciples and Weaknesses: The Ethics of Investigation with Refugees and Asylum Seekers, and Psychology in the Washroom.

Luke Smillie is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Melbourne and supervisor of the Character Processes Laboratory. He acquired his doctorate from the University of Queensland and accomplished postdoctoral study fellowships at the University of London. He has issued over 100 journal papers and book segments on a collection of character themes, including neurobiological and motivational reasons of individual distinctions, the connections and repercussions of extroversion and other rudimentary attributes, and the affiliations between character and societal conduct. He serves as an Associate Editor for both the Journal of Personality and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology: Character Processes and Individual Variations.
