Dr. Cliff Brown from the University of New Hampshire praised this environmental sociology text as the best among those used in college-level teaching, regardless of the subject.

Experience an immersive journey with Mike Bell and co-author Loka Ashwood in exploring “the grandest community” and unraveling the societal dimensions of environmental prospects. The eagerly awaited Fifth Edition of Invitation to Environmental Sociology delves into this evolving field in a lucid and eloquent manner. Crafted in an engaging style, this book delves into diverse environmental sociology subjects with a personal fervor seldom found in sociological literature. The Fifth Edition debuts new chapters on “Finance and Markets,” “Science and Technology,” and “Residing in an Ecological Civilization.” Moreover, this edition introduces fresh insights on resource extraction disparities between central and peripheral nations, the industrialization of farming, the risks posed by fossil fuel extraction, ecological security, and mainstreaming environmental activism.
