Hailing from Seattle, John L. Worrall currently holds the position of Criminology Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). He completed his undergraduate studies with a double major in psychology and law and justice from Central Washington University in 1994. Dr. Worrall earned both his M.A. in criminal justice and Ph.D. in political science from Washington State University, graduating in 1999. Before joining UTD in 2006, he served on the faculty at California State University, San Bernardino from 1999 to 2006. Over the years, Dr. Worrall has published various articles and book chapters on a wide array of topics, leading him to be recognized as one of the most prolific authors in the field. His academic expertise spans areas such as legal issues in policing, crime measurement, and crime control policies. Actively involved in prominent criminal justice societies, he collaborates with local law enforcement agencies on research endeavors and serves as the editor of the journal Police Quarterly.
